Brains from the Royal College of Art have turned their attention to the modern urban problem of helmetless commuters and tourists pedalling around the city on share bikes.
A new helmet made of recycled paper could conceivably be made available to users of the infamous ‘Boris bikes’ in London - and answer a growing safety concern caused by cycles sharing initiatives worldwide.
Made by moulding paper pulp, the egg carton-like lids have sufficient structural integrity to prevent a dent in your skull, but cost only £1 a go to produce. Brilliant. And surely a shoe-in sponsorship opportunity for the right company - it worked for Barclays…
